What have you struggled with the most when creating your website? Some things many people struggle with include:
Design decisions (choosing a template, colors, layout, etc)
Narrowing the focus of the website
Coming up with written content for the Home and About pages
Writing bios for those in charge of the website
Creating service or product descriptions
Obtaining/creating visual content such as photos, logos, banners, etc.
Obtaining/creating audio or video content
Editing backend information such as the page titles and descriptions, how your site shows when shared, etc.
Making sure your website is optimized for SEO
Making sure your website is accessible (has descriptions on photos so those who are blind can understand what's in a photo, has captions on videos, etc)
Making sure your site looks and works great on all devices
Do you struggle with any of these? Something else? Let us know in the comments, and we'll tackle your greatest struggles together!
I am late to the party...! (😖)
Felipe Alves, I would be interested in checking out your website if you would be as so kind to provide a link...
Glad you liked them 🙂 Those sound like great colors and fonts!
Great suggestions and tips!
I think I have found the right set of colors (blue, gray, black and white) and fonts (Headers: Helvetica light, Helvetica, and Libre Baskerville for texts).
I try to always fold SEO into my website creation, so it’s not something I have to do later. There are a few ways that I do this, but here are the top three:
1. Set page titles, descriptions, URL’s, and keywords properly as I go.
2. Make sure keywords show up regularly on each page as I add content to it.
3. Make sure to add “Alt titles” to all images on my site.
Afterwards I run the SEO Wiz and follow whatever it tells me to do 😉
Advertising, of course, is definitely something that you do after you’re live, but if you have a network of your target market, you can build a little buzz beforehand.
The home page, at the very least, is the most important part of your website. If no one can tell what you’re about on the home page, you’re very unlikely to have any of your content get seen, because they won’t click through to read it.
Also, by putting what your site is about, Down into words on the Home and about pages, you may move into a different direction and realize you weren’t writing content with the right purpose starting out.
Yes, color psychology can seem overwhelming for sure. Did you get that figured out, or are you still trying to get that just right?
Currently my main struggles are:
1. Design decisions (choosing a template, colors, layout, etc)
I had to read a whole pack of articles about psychology of colors, fonts, etc. to understand how to convey the right emotion and attract the kind of people I want for my website. My website is a science forum, I'd like the user to feel a sense of reliability and at the same time encourage them to participate in debates and learning, respectfully with other users.
2. Coming up with written content for the Home and About pages and writing bios for those in charge of the website
I haven't tried these yet. Currently I'm "populating" it with interesting posts and articles. As you can see, I'm not very deep when it comes to talking.
In future, probably my main struggles will be making SEO and advertising my website, principally finding a niche public. That will be probably my main challenge in future.
